Wednesday 4/23/2025 @ 10 AM: SafetyFirst! Rigging Safety
Rigging Safety is part of the TTF Safety First! curriculum developed by the IATSE Training Trust Fund. A primary goal of this curriculum is to recognize potential hazards. This course on Rigging Safety describes and defines rigging and basic safety precautions. It will discuss the center of gravity and its importance in rigging a load, as well as common sling arrangements and their relation to sling angles. It also provides guidelines for load limits and load distribution and demonstrates the importance of rigging inspections.
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:
Define and describe rigging and slings.
Describe basic safety precautions for rigging work.
Explain center of gravity and its importance in rigging a load.
Describe common sling arrangements and their relation to sling angles.
Describe the importance of rigging inspections.
Identify guidelines for safe rigging including working load limits and load distribution.
Participants will receive credit in the training tracker equivalent to individual certificates.
We'll also cover general IATSE TTF programs and where to find online training for your craft, and any other questions or discussions that pop up.
After the TTF course, we'll cover the International Code of Practice for Entertainment Riggers (ICOPER) and where to find additional information and certifications.
